You friended me first, and then I looked at your journal and I was like 'podfic!' and 'that's the awesome person who podficced 'I am All Things Unholy! And she friended me!' and so I friended you back.

I always associate you with Frank's tattoos - I think it's because they're on the cover of your 'Unholy' podbook and I listen to it a lot, so. But also the blue and white stripes on your journal background. I remember colours a lot, hah.

3. Tell you something I like about you.
As you mentioned, it's so awesome we're around the same age! And also you're really encouraging and enthusiastic so far! :D And and also, your accent is so lovely.

4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
Uhm, when you friended me, because I think you were the first person to on DW and I think I danced a little.

Is Ireland really as amazing as everybody makes it out to be? I know it's not the case with Australia.

I actually really like the Dr. Who one you have right now, because it reminds me of a really awesome conversation me and my friend were having about that episode. :D

Ah, Ireland. Yes and no, I guess. Yes because it's so beautiful, the people are great, the culture is amazing and the general attitude we have is very casual which I love.

However we have piles of problems - like every country I guess. Unemployment is at an all time high, people are laid off every day, we don't have a functional health care system, the country is still in the grip of the Church, (just the fact that I automatically capitalised church says a lot, I guess) and it's always. fecking. raining.

I spend a lot of time on reddit.com, more specifically /r/ireland, and nearly every day we have some people asking "I'm considering moving to Ireland. What do I need to know?" and the general consensus is - don't unless you have a very very very secure job. (which is basic advice for any move, of course, but especially here - companies no one thought would go bust, have.)

However, I love Ireland, I really do. The history and culture dates back so far and everywhere you go there are reminders of the past. A common joke amongst us is: Some American tourists were going down the M1 motorway on their way to Wexford. They passed by Slane Castle. "Oh, isn't that castle amazing." said the woman. "And they built it so close to the highway!" replied the man.

We're horrible people like that, but it's true. Driving down the motorway you see castles and towers everywhere. It's awesome.

But hey! It's a great holiday destination if you don't mind the rain! Come, spend money! :D

So different to Australia! The landscape here really depends on where you live, as do the people. Here in rural tiny Nowheresville, everyone is pretty homophobic and racist (especially against Muslim immigrants coming in from Afghanistan, Indians, and the Chinese and Japanese, oh, and New Zealanders), but in such a casual and 'joking' sort of way that you stop noticing after a while. We're also sort of 'racist' against different states and parts of our country, like, a lot of people joke that Tasmanians are incestuous. We share the general casual attitude with you, especially towards education and careers. Most people drop out of school.

That sucks about the unemployment, healthcare, and religion. Our unemployment isn't so great at the moment, but not as bad as you're describing. :( Fortunately, we have an awesome healthcare system, you can get it almost for free depending on where you go. We definitely don't share the religion problem with you. In my highschool, I know of two people who are devoutly Christian, a handful that are lapsed Catholics, and the rest of us are either agnostic or atheist. The same pretty much goes for the whole country.

That seriously sucks. A couple of large companies here, like David Jones, are whinging about how they need to drop prices because everyone's shopping online or they'll go broke, but that's about the extent of it.

Oh, I wish Australia had an appreciated culture! We're a pretty young country, and our culture basically boils down to, like, Ned Kelly, who was a highwayman in the 1800's who wore a metal bucket on his head as armour. (That and like, alcohol and football and meat pies. This is our culture.) Just. I want castles.

I'd love to have a holiday over in Ireland. *sigh* so pretty.

Thank you for all the lovely things you said, especially about my fic.

My first fandom was Star Trek Voyager. I was a huge shipper of Torres/Paris, though I didn't actually write for that fandom. That was The Sentinel, not that I'd recommend you search those out as I was very much a learner back then *g*
